HUB | Farm: Connecting the Pieces of Urban Agriculture
HUB | Farm is an interactive documentary through which we will facilitate open-source sharing of information about urban agriculture, making it accessible to a diverse audience. It will bring together various perspectives related to urban agriculture in a creative and engaging way. It highlights the current context of urban agriculture, future possibilities, and the historical legacy in the Boston area, covering strategies, interventions, and creations: artistic, technical, scientific, community-based, and design-inspired. HUB | Farm‘s main body is a collection of short documentary videos on urban farming in Boston. It explores this concept as it relates to producing healthier, cost-efficient food sources, while contributing to improved air quality, land redevelopment, and active, empowered, communities. It investigates challenges of food security, the background of urban farming and how other cities have been successful implementing a range of programs. This project includes conversations with people effectively doing projects and will have tutorials for those who want to get involved. This project will be accessible on the web in a specialized interface, allowing users to view a standard edited version or a custom generated video. Depending on the viewer’s location and interest, the video will be custom edited and generated for them. This documentary will have hundreds of variations and will almost never be the same for any two people. This interactive media format allows people to access what is most relevant for them. All the videos will be available on this site for users who want to explore further. As we develop the project, we will add links to additional resources on urban agriculture in Boston.
