This weekend, Lina and I met with Filipe Oliviera, Founder of Percival Beer Company. Percival is an independent craft beer micro-brewer and distributor. We are looking forward to a formal interview with Olivera at the new site for Percival’s brewing operations. Percival looks to bring together many micro-businesses in a synergistic way at their new location. There is much more to come, and are excited to follow Percival’s developments (physical and programmatic) in the coming year.
Lina and I think it’s important to include craft breweries in the landscape of urban agriculture. They are a part of the new (and historical) economy in Boston, and will continue to grow – supporting agriculture, contributing spent grain waste to a full-loop uses, and cultivating a vibrant social scene.
We also happened to run into Josh Trautwein, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Fresh Truck. He generously gave us an impromptu tour of the converted school bus. Fresh Truck makes healthy fresh produce, nuts, fruits, and snacks accessible in predominantly low-income neighborhoods, and to people across diverse backgrounds, food preferences, and socio-economic strata.
Though there may be snow on the ground, good work doesn’t die when the winter comes to B-town!
Now, to crack open one of them DOT Ales.
